About us
A steady place to start when everything feels uncertain.
Families For Recovery exists to help families navigate one of the hardest experiences of their lives: watching someone they love struggle with addiction, alcoholism, or a mental health condition.
What we do
We publish plain-language education about substance use, mental health, interventions, treatment, family support, and recovery. We help families understand what they are seeing, what their options are, and what they can realistically do next.
We also connect families with a broader behavioral health resource network — sites that focus on treatment placement, mental health services, addiction education, alcohol recovery, and recovery meetings. When we link to another site, we say what it is for.
You can call us and speak with a recovery resource specialist. That conversation is free, and there is no obligation to pursue any particular option.
What we do not do
- We are not a medical provider. We do not diagnose, treat, or provide clinical advice.
- We are not a treatment facility, and we cannot guarantee admission, availability, or insurance coverage.
- We are not an intervention service. We publish education about interventions and can help you find professional guidance.
- We are not affiliated with Al-Anon, Nar-Anon, Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, SMART Recovery, SAMHSA, or 988. We point families toward these resources.
- We do not claim accreditation, licensure, or clinical credentials we do not hold.
How we write
Our content is written for families, not for search engines. We avoid inventing statistics, clinical claims, or outcomes. Where we describe treatment or crisis response, we rely on widely accepted guidance from public health and addiction medicine sources such as SAMHSA and NIDA, and we link families to those organizations directly.
This site is educational. It is not a substitute for evaluation by a qualified clinician, and it should not delay emergency care.
